Welcome, and thank you for visiting
My creative journey began in a truly focused and concerted fashion in December of 2013. I've always enjoyed making photographs - ever vigilant for things that grab me in terms of lighting, symmetry, pattern, and symbolism. I also enjoy making rhymes, playing with metaphor and double entendre, and generally breaking down words into pieces and connecting them with others. Bringing these two forms of expression together - combining a visual image with a poetic description - is a branch of poetry known as Ekphrasis.
My first iPhone in June 2013 proved to the catalyst to this endeavor, combining a camera with a notepad so that images and thoughts can be recorded on the go - and I was off to the races with this genre. iPhone photography provides a very useful constraint - the lens is limited to a basic wide angle with no zoom and depth of field adjustments. It is all about perception, content, and composition - with some post-capture functions for cropping, straightening, lighting, color and contrast to reveal and accentuate what might otherwise be hidden - that's it.
In September 2014, thanks to the encouragement of Kathy, the New Rochelle Art Association accepted two of my pieces into their 99th Annual Open Juried Show!. Thank you, my darling, for all that you bring to my life.
